The Public Gardens

The Public Gardens is a series of paintings focused on empowering individuals to take up space in their community. Just as public gardens are essential parts of neighborhoods, diverse groups of people keep communities alive. Each painting will extend the boundaries of the canvas through mounds of paint covering the surface and sides. As the paint does not conform to the conventional ideas of a painting, I want viewers to know that their unique voices are crucial in the longevity of their neighborhood. Traditionally public gardens are open spaces, free for any to use.
